Your first week: the Safety Program

The fastest way to get set up is to work through the five-step Safety Program on your Home dashboard, which takes your organisation from a clean install to inspection-ready.

Written by Taylor Laing
  • Your Home dashboard tracks progress through five steps

  • Each step has a focused outcome and links to the area of the platform where you do the work

  • New organisations start at Step 1 (Foundation) with nothing complete

  • Steps build on each other; complete Foundation before moving on to Know Your Risks

The five steps are: Foundation → Know Your Risks → Act on Your Findings → Complete the Obligations → Go Further.

The step circles on the dashboard show your progress and are clickable; selecting a step takes you to the matching area of the platform. You can also use the links and action panels within each step.

Step 1: Foundation

Foundation establishes the governance structure your safety program runs on. It sets up a starter set of controls covering the basics every psychosocial safety program needs, such as:

  • Running scheduled risk assessments with worker consultation and surveys

  • Consulting workers on psychosocial risk management decisions

  • Registering identified hazards

  • Conducting routine and incident-triggered control reviews

  • Identifying all workers under your duty of care and making sure controls reach them

Each control opens directly from the dashboard. Complete the evidence listed for each one before moving on.

Step 2: Know Your Risks

Once Foundation is complete, the Safety Program moves you to Know Your Risks. This step is about identifying and assessing the psychosocial hazards that apply to your organisation.

Know Your Risks takes you to the Risk Register (/app/risks), where you can:

  • Adopt risk scenarios from the pre-built library, aligned to your active frameworks

  • Create custom risk assessments specific to your organisation

  • Work through each assessment using the structured wizard

Step 3: Act on Your Findings

Act on Your Findings turns identified risks into trackable controls. It takes you to the Controls page (/app/controls).

At this step you:

  • Review the controls surfaced by your active frameworks

  • Assign owners and set renewal frequencies

  • Add the evidence each control requires (in Records)

Step 4: Complete the Obligations

Step 4 closes out the remaining mandatory controls and evidence across all your active frameworks. Finishing it means every legal obligation for the frameworks you have activated has been addressed.

The dashboard shows your progress as a fraction of controls complete. Controls are ordered so the most pressing work rises to the top: current focus first, then overdue or due-soon items, then by position in the Hierarchy of Controls.

"Obligations" is how the platform refers to the individual requirements a framework places on you. Completing this step is the same as satisfying those framework requirements.

Step 5: Go Further

Go Further is for organisations that have met their mandatory obligations and want to mature their psychosocial safety program beyond the minimum. Rather than a checklist, it points you toward the ongoing, continuous-improvement work that keeps your program strong, such as:

  • Deepening your understanding of the workforce with Detection analytics

  • Running further surveys and acting on the trends they reveal

  • Keeping controls effective through regular Reviews and worker Consultations

  • Broadening coverage by activating additional frameworks as your obligations grow

  • Producing board-ready reporting to demonstrate maturity over time
