Surveys overview

Surveys are how ReFresh measures psychosocial risk directly from your workforce. They sit inside Risk Intelligence and feed everything downstream: your risk register, your controls, and your governance reporting.

Written by Taylor Laing

A survey asks your people a validated set of questions, scores the responses against psychosocial work factors, and turns the results into a picture of where harm is concentrating and where your protections are weakest.

What surveys do

  • Detect hazards. Responses are scored to show which psychosocial factors are present in your organisation, how severe they are, and where they concentrate by team and location.

  • Protect confidentiality. Results are only ever shown to admins in aggregate, and a group's results stay hidden until at least five people have completed the survey. See Anonymous and identified responses.

  • Drive action. Findings link through to risks, controls, and tasks, so a survey result becomes work you can track, not just a report.

Survey type

Every ReFresh survey today is a Psychosocial survey: a validated assessment of the psychosocial hazards present in your workplace. Surveys are the mechanism ReFresh uses to identify those hazards directly from your workforce, so a single, standardised type keeps results comparable across surveys and against framework expectations.

The survey lifecycle

  1. Choose a template. Start from a ReFresh Platform template (regulator-aligned, ready to send) or build your own Custom template. See Choosing a survey template and Building a custom survey.

  2. Create the survey from a template, give it a name, and it opens in draft.

  3. Add recipients and send. Invite individuals or whole groups; each person gets a unique single-use link and completes the survey in their browser (no ReFresh login needed). See Distributing a survey.

  4. Collect responses. Track participation as Completed / In Progress / Not Started while responses come in.

  5. Read the results. Once the survey clears the five-response floor, the analytics tabs open up. See Reading survey results.

The survey detail page

Open any survey from the Surveys list to see four tabs:

  • Dashboard: the primary results view: your headline scores, work-factor risk profile, protective factors, and estimated exposure.

  • Risks and Controls: the risks and controls linked to this survey.

  • Actions: action items raised from the survey's findings, with status and assignee.

  • Questions: the question set used, with response distributions.

A header shows the survey's status (Active or Closed), overall participation, and an Export option.

Monthly survey limit: Some plans cap how many surveys can gather responses in a month. On those plans, the Surveys page shows an "N of M surveys used this month" counter, where the count is surveys that have received responses this month (not simply surveys created). Once you reach the limit, creating a new survey is blocked until the next month, so check your subscription or contact support. Plans with no limit show no counter.
