To activate a framework, open it from the Available tab on the Frameworks page, click Preview Activation, then Confirm Activate. Activation maps shared controls to the new framework's requirements and surfaces what else is needed.

  • Open from Frameworks → Available tab → click a framework

  • Preview shows what will be Added (new documents and policies) and Retained (existing controls reused)

  • Confirming activation runs instantly; no data migration is required

  • Activation surfaces any gaps as Needs Evidence on the Controls page

  • Set a Target Compliance date once activated

Opening an inactive framework

From the Frameworks page, click the Available tab. Click any framework row to open the framework detail drawer.

The drawer shows:

  • A circular progress indicator with Controls Already Complete (for example, 70/81 if 70 of 81 controls satisfy framework requirements through existing evidence)

  • Framework Type (Legislation, Standard, Code of Practice)

  • Category (Psychosocial)

  • Location (the relevant jurisdiction)

  • Tags

  • Last Published date

  • Description and key features

Previewing activation

Click Preview Activation at the bottom of the drawer. The preview shows what activation will do:

  • Added: items that will be newly created in your tenant. For example, Documents 2 and Policies 3

  • Retained: items that already exist and will continue to satisfy requirements. For example, Controls 135

The preview prevents surprises: you see exactly what will be created before committing.

Confirming activation

Click Confirm Activate. The framework moves to Active state. From here:

  • Required risk scenarios are auto-created in your Risk Register (see "Adopting risks from the scenario library", 3.9)

  • Shared controls are mapped to the new framework's requirements

  • Any newly required documents and policies appear in the library with status Needs Evidence

  • Activation is instant; you do not need to wait for a sync

After activation

Open the framework's detail page to see:

  • Progress: percentage complete with Complete / Needs Evidence / Due Soon legend

  • Status: Active

  • Activated: the date you activated

  • Target Compliance: click Set Target Date to choose your goal date for full compliance

  • Last Certified: a manual milestone marker for when this framework was last formally certified

  • Description: framework description, scope, and key features

  • Requirements: counts of Controls, Policies, Documents this framework requires

The Overview, Controls, and Roles tabs let you drill into the framework's content.

Prerequisite: groups must be set up first

Activating a framework typically surfaces around 100 controls. Before activating, ensure your organisation's groups are set up so the activation can be configured correctly. See "Creating and managing groups" (2.2).
